Italian photography on display at Cypress

 Lynn Andrews, an award-winning local photographer, will be the featured artist for July at Cypress Galley, 119 E. Cypress Ave., Lompoc.

She will be hosting a show of fine art photographs in a collection called  “Italy, In A Dream.”  A reception will be held July 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cypress Gallery and is open to the public.

Andrews has been a resident of Lompoc since the early 1950s and graduated from Lompoc High School in 1970. She joined the Navy and retired after 22 years of service. She later became a federal officer with the U.S. Customs Service and then, in 2001, resigned to come back to Lompoc to take care of her ill, widowed father. Andrews has bee interested in photography all her life, but began to seriously study photography about eight years ago.

Andrews is a member of the Lompoc Valley Art Assoc., Gold Coast Professional Photographers, past member of California Professional Photographers and a founding member of the Lompoc Photographers Guild.

She was published in a best-selling book on cats in 2005, has won numerous awards including several Best in Show from Santa Barbara County Fair, Santa Barbara International Orchid Show, Lompoc Valley Art Association and Betterphoto.com.

Andrews placed second out of more than 20,700 international entrants in the Betterphoto.com photo competition. She  has also been invited to display her work at Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce luncheons, Hancock College functions, Lompoc Public Library, the Centeno Gallery, South Side Coffee Company and the Betteravia Government Center show, “Iron and Plastic.”

She was selected as a Best of the Best participant last year by the Lompoc Photographer’s Guild and again this year by Lompoc Valley Art Assoc. Andrews is currently a member of the Lompoc Valley Art Association’s Traveling Art Show and was a member of the LVAA’s Hospital Art Show.

Andrews has had several shows in the Lompoc area, including a benefit for a local non-profit organization VIVA (Volunteers For Inter-Valley Animals). Andrews’s Italian artwork has been used by several local wineries on websites and brochures and she has been commissioned to do artwork for the Foley Family Winery and is now the resident artist there.  She has two websites, Lynnandrewsphotography.com and Lynn-andrews.fineartamerica.com.
